What is Calcite?

All calcites are some of my favorite minerals. They come is so many colors, shapes and formations. What I love about calcite is it’s ability to act like a vacuum – absorbing negative energy and sending it back out positive. It is probably the best cleanser of negative energies in the human system, and works on all levels from the physical to the etheric. This makes it a very purifying stone. It can also be used to clear negativity in the environment, such as a room that it’s in.

Calcites are made up of calcium carbonate. The colors are determined by the minerals or impurities contained within. Pink calcite contains manganese and that is how it gets its soft pink color. Many calcites are UV reactive meaning they glow when a black light is on them. Some but not all calcites are UV reactive.
