Hematite for Healing and Charging Crystals
I often feel like the basic crystals and stones get overlooked. I also believe that a lot of us with a spiritual practice tend to hang out in our higher chakras while neglecting the lower chakras- especially the root chakra. Hematite has become one of my favorite stones for many purposes – especially for addressing root chakra issues.
What is Hematite?
Hematite is an Iron Oxide that is gray, black, brown or dull to bright red. You can tell just based on the name alone that hematite is great for healing issues that are blood related. Therefore, hematite as a name gives recognition of its relationship to hemoglobin. Hematite is the source of red coloring in soil all over the planet.
What is it good for?
Hematite is great for blood and being the heaviest stone used in stone medicine is very grounding and anchoring. I use hematite to strengthen my root chakra function and grounding. In addition, hematite is like a sponge- absorbing negative energy and protecting! It is also used to improve relationships. Native American folklore states that war paint made from Hematite will make one invincible in battle. So you could say that hematite is a good warrior stone. It is a stone I recommend for folks going through any kind of legal battles.
How to charge crystals with hematite
The common stone used for clearing and charging crystals in the metaphysical world is selenite. I prefer hematite. In Chinese medicine, hematite is used as a charging stone. My hematite slabs are the perfect size and shape for that purpose. The way I use it is to place stones that need recharging on the slab to bring them back to Earth. The stones that work best for this are the blue and green copper containing stones such as malachite. All in all, hematite is a stone that deserves another look when you think about stones to work with.
